18 Wheeler: American Pro Trucker (エイティーン・ホイーラー) is a racing game developed by Sega AM2 for the Sega NAOMI arcade hardware in 1999.
The game was quickly brought to the Sega Dreamcast in 2000. After Sega pulled out of the hardware market ports were released for the Sony PlayStation 2 and Nintendo GameCube in 2001/2002 by Acclaim. 18 Wheeler was followed up by The King of Route 66 in 2002/2003.
The Dreamcast version was once set to include online play[5], but the feature was scrapped before release.
Contents
Gameplay
In the game the player drives a large 18-wheel American truck from one destination to another, attempting to avoid obstacles (and rivals) so as not to damage the load. However, more points are awarded for fast times, and you must beat your rival in order to succeed.
