Time Commando (タイムコマンドー) is an action PC game ported to the Sega Saturn. It is heavily reliant on pre-rendered backgrounds and full motion video in combination with polygon characters. Despite being a French game, the Sega Saturn version was only released in Japan.

History

The game was created first on PC MS-DOS computers and then on PlayStation during 1996 by Adeline Software International, a subsidiary of Delphine Software International which was composed of former developers of the original Alone in the Dark title while they still were in Infogrames. Since the Adeline staff lacked development experience on the Sega Saturn console, its parent company Delphine outsourced the conversion of the game to Virtual Studio, not long after the release of the PlayStation version[3].

After enduring a complicated process of more than one year to convert the game which almost resulted in its cancellation, the title was eventually released in early 1998 by the Japanese branch of Acclaim Entertainment, only in Japan and in a very rough and glitchy state.
