GameWorks Miami was a GameWorks entertainment center opened by Sega GameWorks. It was located within the Sunset Place Mall[1] in South Miami, Florida, and was one of the first tenants at the complex, opening in Early 1999.
The venue's operation was taken over by Sega Entertainment USA in place of the dissolved GameWorks parent company in 2004. The venue closed on March 29, 2010 alongside several other GameWorks locations following reorganization at Sega. A month later on April 12, Michael Abecassis, a former consultant for GameWorks, announced that he had purchased the Miami and Tampa locations from Sega Entertainment USA. The venues reopened shortly afterward on April 16 under the management of Abecassis' company A&E Adventures LLC, retaining the GameWorks brand under a licensing agreement from Sega for a short period.[2] The arcade was soon rebranded as GameTime, and continues to operate as such to this day. Much of the original GameWorks machines remain intact.
