Phantasy Star Online 2 is a work in progress PC MMORPG currently developed by Sonic Team and published by Sega set for a Japanese release for early 2012 with the developers interested in a global release at a later date. A PlayStation Vita port with a expected release date of 2013 was announced in early 2012.
The game is a true sequel to the original Phantasy Star Online (unlike Phantasy Star Universe) however it takes features from all of the series, including Phantasy Star Portable 2. It features a brand new combat system similar to hack and slash games such as Devil May Cry and Bayonetta with the ability to run and climb on enemies ncludes a revamp of the Ranger combat playing more like third person shooters such as Lost Planet and the return of MAGs.
Multiple party quests are also a new addition to the game, with multiple parties grouping together to succeed in difficult challenges (like raids in MMORPGs)
