Hydro Thunder is a racing game developed and published by Midway in 1999. Originally released in arcades, it was ported to the Sega Dreamcast as a launch title in both North America and PAL regions in 1999. It was later ported to other consoles, though the Dreamcast version remains the closest version to the arcade game.
Hydro Thunder is a power boat racing game and the first in Midway's Thunder series. Several plans for a sequel were put in place, but none emerged until Hydro Thunder Hurricane was released for Xbox Live Arcade in 2010. The third entry to the Thunder series, 4 Wheel Thunder was released for the Dreamcast in 2001.
