Riddle Wired (リドルワイアード) is a quiz game for the Sega Mega Drive, released exclusively in Japan via the Sega Game Toshokan service. It was episodic, with questions getting refreshed twice a month. Only 1991-08 Volume 1 has been preserved.

Gameplay

Riddle Wired is a quiz game that can be played by one or two players simultaneously. The game is divided into multiple "battles" where the players are questioned by an opponent. When players correctly answer a question, the opponent loses a hit point. If a player guesses incorrectly or fails to answer before time runs out, the player loses a health point. The players win if the opponent's hit points are reduced to zero. The game ends if the player runs out of hit points but can be continued up to three times. Each player starts with three hit points, and opponents start with four hit points. Hit points are not restored after defeating an opponent but can be restored by winning items in the bonus rounds that occur between each battle.

Each question is multiple choice with four possible answers. Up and Down select an answer, and A, B, or C chooses it. In two-player games, either player can answer. At the end of the battle, the game shows which percentage of questions were answered correctly by each player.

Items

A player has a chance of receiving a random item at the end of a battle for answering 75% or more of the questions correctly.
