Virtua Fighter (バーチャファイター), also known as Virtua Fighter: TV Animation Series, is a Japanese anime series loosely based on the Virtua Fighter video games, in particular Virtua Fighter 2. A total of 35 episodes were produced by Kyokuichi Tokyo Movie. It was released on VHS in Japan, the US and Europe, and on DVD in the US only. The series was made available for digital rental on Tokyo Movie Online (東京ムービーONLINE), TMS's streaming service.
Virtua Fighter follows Akira Yuki on his journey to see the big dipper constellation. He encounters Pai Chan while in Chinatown, and later more of the cast of Virtua Fighter 2, before rescuing a brainwashed Sarah Bryant and defeating the android Dural.
