The Saturn CartDev is a development kit for the Sega Saturn, released by Sega of America in 1995. They replaced the older Sega Saturn Programming Boxes, and are designed to be placed beneath modified consumer Saturn hardware, as opposed to being an all-in-one unit. Two versions of the CartDev was released: Revision A and Revision B.
Connected to a Modified Production Saturn via the cartridge slot, this development system, in conjunction with the SNASM2 Development Software provides an inexpensive and easy-to-use development environment. This debugger executes both COFF files generated by the GNU-C compiler or binary files produced by the SNASM SH2 Assembler. These files can be downloaded directly through the Cartdev system.
