Gameplay
Similar to the Koei's Three Kingdoms series, Genghis Khan II is a grand strategy game with turn based strategy and tactics phases. Strategy phase focuses on nation building, improving economy, diplomacy etc, while tactics phase focuses on turn based combat between different units.
Game has two phases. During the first phase, players attempt to conquer other Mongol tribes in Eastern China. Second phase focuses on World Conquest, allowing players to annex territories all the way to Britain.
Japanese versions of the game has a rather unusual "dating" mini-game which Genghis Khan attempts to woo various female characters to become his concubines. Considering the real life Genghis Khan's "indiscretions" with various women in history, this mini-game is, while bizarre, it is historically (and hilariously) accurate. This mini game has been removed from overseas versions for obvious reasons. Home computer versions have somewhat more risque scenes while console versions' scenes are more tame.
