The FM Towns is a Japanese personal computer manufactured by Fujitsu. Released exclusively in Japan in 1989, the system's primary selling point was its inclusion of CD-ROM integration, with a vertical CD drive housed in the front of the computer's case. The FM Towns was relatively well-received but failed to achieve the same level of market penetration as rival platforms such as the MSX, and was eventually phased out as IBM-compatible PCs began being introduced to the country in the mid 1990s.

Fujitsu also released a consolized version of the system, the FM Towns Marty, in February 1993. Like the Amiga CD32, it was an attempt to bring a streamlined version of the computer into living rooms to compete with the Super Famicom, PC Engine, and Mega Drive. Unlike the CD32, however, it was compatible with virtually all FM Towns software.

Sega support

Sega's presence on the FM Towns was primarily provided by CRI.

Reportedly, FM Towns ports of Alien Syndrome, Super Hang-On, and Thunder Blade were released, but no evidence of this has been found.
