Difference between revisions of "Dreamcast consoles in Eastern Europe"

In 1999, Sega has identified as priority markets United Kingdom, France, Germany and Spain in which focused almost 100 percent of the advertising budget and provided most of the available consoles. To other Western European countries, Sega delivered very low numbers of Dreamcast with little or no advertising. In that situation, countries of Central Europe, Ex-Yugoslavia, Baltic, Central Asia, Caucasia and Eastern Europe didn't recevied Dreamcast in 1999, due to lack of budget and available consoles. Starting from early 2000, Sega decided to distirbute consoles here.

When Dreamcast went on sale, in several countries, especially in the CIS region, game piracy for the new Sega console began. As with the Mega Drive cases, piracy has turned out to be a generator of console sales. Another advantage was the relatively low price of the console compared to PlayStation 2. Dreamcast had tolerable sales results in some countries, but in other ones, it was poorly available and unnoticed.
