Tadahiko Taira signature version
Produced in a collaboration with the Japanese paint company Maziora[3]. The upper half is painted in a pearlescent coating, causing it to change color when viewed at difference angles. It came bundled in the same orange packaging of the original Japanese Dreamcast but with the Maziora logo on the front, a matching pearlescent coated controller, a copy of Dream Passport, a special helmet keychain, and information about motorsports.[4]

Originally shown alongside other (unreleased) variants at Tokyo Game Show '98 Autumn[5], it could be obtained in two ways. The first was by ordering a copy online, which came packaged in an outer cardboard box with the Maziora logo on it. The second was by winning it at a racing event, where it features the signature of professional race driver Tadahiko Taira (whose team was being sponsored by Maziora at the time). Reportedly, 300 unsigned units and 200 signed units were produced[6], available for pre-order between April 23 and April 25, 1999.[1]

S.T.A.R.S. edition
Two special editions of the Dreamcast were produced by Capcom to celebrate the Japanese release of the Resident Evil franchise[17]: the Claire edition and the S.T.A.R.S. edition. Both models have the same S.T.A.R.S. packing and boast a clear skeleton shell (with Claire's being a dark red, and S.T.A.R.S.' being a dark purple), grey underside, and a special serial number sticker on the back of the console (Claire: xxxx/1800, STARS xxx/200). Each system was bundled with a matching controller and grey VMU, a copy of Biohazard CODE:Veronica and Dream Passport 2, and some BioHazard merchandise.

Reportedly, both editions were rereleased at one point, with 50 addition Claire systems available through Dreamcast Direct about one year after the initial release, and an additional 30 S.T.A.R.S. systems through a Famitsu contest. These rereleases lack the serial number sticker, and the Claire version in particular had its bundled game replaced with the newer Biohazard Code: Veronica Kanzenban. It is thought that a total of 1800 Claire systems and 200 S.T.A.R.S. systems were produced.
