Like a Dragon Gaiden: The Man Who Erased His Name, known as Ryu ga Gotoku 7 Gaiden Mei o Keshita Otoko (龍が如く7外伝 名を消した男) in Japan is a side story in the Yakuza/Like a Dragon series.
History
Like a Dragon Gaiden: The Man Who Erased His Name was developed simultaneously with Like a Dragon: Ishin! and Like a Dragon: Infinite Wealth by the same team with identical roles between projects, similar to previous yearly installments being developed by the same team.[1] The voice recording sessions were scheduled so that lines for Ishin!, Gaiden and Infinite Wealth were each being recorded on different within the same week.[1]
Gaiden was developed in about half a year with the same engine as Infinite Wealth. It was initially conceived as DLC for Infinite Wealth, but was retooled into a standalone game, which subsequently would need additional content to justify a physical release.[1]
