One night two siblings, Samantha and Jonathan, come across a butterfly while exploring a grassy field. Enchanted by the butterfly's haunting beauty, Samantha chases after it. Jonathan follows reluctantly, repeating their grandmother's warnings about ghosts who roam the area and turn people into butterflies. The butterfly leads Samantha into the Mansion, where she becomes trapped.

==Gameplay==
'''''{{PAGENAME}}''''' plays similarly to ''[[D]]'' or ''[[Burn Cycle]]'' in which it is a first person point n click adventure. The player assumes the role of a young man named Jonathan and is tasked with finding his sister inside the titular mansion within 2 hours. (there is no pausing as the game is played in real time). The mansion is pre-rendered and movement is shown via short FMV segments. Items can be picked up and used in certain situations (such as puzzles) and the player can save progress at anytime once the diary is found.

Yumemi Mystery Mansion, known as Yumemi Yakata no Monogatari (夢見館の物語) in Japan, is a Sega Mega-CD adventure game. In North America, the game was published by Vic Tokai, who renamed the game Mansion of Hidden Souls. It is reliant on full-motion video and is compatible with the Sega Mouse.

Story

Yumemi Mystery Mansion, Mansion.png

Mansion

One night two siblings, Samantha and Jonathan, come across a butterfly while exploring a grassy field. Enchanted by the butterfly's haunting beauty, Samantha chases after it. Jonathan follows reluctantly, repeating their grandmother's warnings about ghosts who roam the area and turn people into butterflies. The butterfly leads Samantha into the Mansion, where she becomes trapped.

Gameplay

The game is a first-person point-and-click adventure that plays similarly to D or Burn Cycle. The player assumes the role of a young man named Jonathan, who must explore the Mansion, overcome several puzzles, and escape with his sister before the pair of them become permanent residents. The game has few puzzles, and gameplay instead emphasizes exploring the mansion and searching for important items. The Mansion is depicted by pre-rendered 3D images, and movement is shown through short full-motion video transitions. While exploring the Mansion, the player encounters several ghosts, who appear in the form of blue butterflies.

Jonathan moves through the Mansion with Up and turns with Left and Right. Jonathan opens unlocked doors, inspects objects, and picks up or interacts with items with Up. The player can invoke the item inventory with A. The player can cycle through the inventory with A, close the inventory with B, or use the selected item with C.

After finding Samantha, the player must complete the rest of the game within a time limit of one hour. Samantha and Jonathan must leave the Mansion before midnight or be trapped forever. The Pocket Watch item shows how much time is remaining.

Once the Diary is found, the player can use it to save progress at any time.
