Some praised the game for being one of the first 3D motorbike racing games for home consoles, while others criticised the poor controls and lack of animation. Compared to Sega AM3's Manx TT Superbike, Hang-On GP appears to be a much simpler and less polished title, though it does offer more playable courses.
