The Sega Dreamcast has gone through several changes over its development process. There are several rejected ideas and other things that were left on the cutting room floor. The following details several of these things.
Console
A radically different design to the Dreamcast we know today.
This model was used in numerous promotional shots around 1998. Notable differences include fewer "Dreamcast" logos and a rounded START button.
Controller
The Dreamcast controller used the Sega Saturn's 3D Control Pad as a base. This shows some of the changes during development.
A number of prototype controllers along with the final mould. Note how one is literally a 3D Control Pad with a screen attached.
Almost a decade before the Wii entered the market, Sega toyed with the idea of a controller built like a remote.
