Mega Power was a monthly magazine released in the United Kingdom that was aimed specifically at the Sega Mega Drive and Sega Mega-CD market. It was designed to rival the likes of MegaTech, Mega and Sega Mega Drive Advanced Gaming, alongside its sister magazine Sega Pro (which also tackled the Sega Master System and Sega Game Gear (and later Sega Saturn).
Mega Power was the first UK games magazine to ship with a cover-mounted compact disc; a demo of Thunderhawk provided with issue #4. Other game demo CDs were released throughout 1993 and 1994, but only became a regular feature from issue #10 (May 1994), when the magazine transitioned towards specifically to covering the Mega-CD. From this point until July 1995, Mega Power was the world's only Mega-CD-centric magazine, though still reviewed "the very best of Mega Drive carts" during this period.
Mega Power came to an end when the Mega-CD's software libray began to dry up, with developers instead focusing on the newly launched Sega Saturn. Sega Pro, which at this point was also offering a CD variant with cover-mounted Mega-CD discs, would find itself re-publishing older Mega Power discs until it too folded after its October 1995 issue.
