Shenmue the Animation is an anime series based on the Shenmue franchise. It was first announced at the 2020 Crunchyroll expo.[1] Yu Suzuki is an Executive Producer on the project.
The show did well enough that a second season had some form of work already being started for it, but was canceled due to the Warner Bros. Entertainment merger with Discovery, Inc., due to Discovery axing many shows that Warner Bros. had for tax write offs after having been sold to them by AT&T.[4]
