Kirby's Avalanche, known as Kirby's Ghost Trap in PAL regions, is a puzzle game developed by Compile plus HAL Laboratory and published by Nintendo for the Super Nintendo Entertainment System in 1995. The game is a Western adaptation of Compile's (plus Banpresto) Super Puyo Puyo (す〜ぱ〜ぷよぷよ) released for the Super Famicom in 1993, except that it features characters and other elements from the Kirby series. It is also one of the console adaptations for Western audiences, alongside Dr. Robotnik's Mean Bean Machine. Since its original release on the SNES, Nintendo did not release the game in Japan by any means.
Nintendo re-released Kirby's Avalanche in 2007 for the Wii as part of the Virtual Console. This re-release credits Sega over Compile in the game's Operation Guide (digital instruction manual). While the game was re-released as part of the Super Nintendo Entertainment System - Nintendo Switch Online for Nintendo Switch years later, Nintendo does not credit Sega (neither Bandai Namco, who absorbed all of Banpresto's gaming business) for it, not even in the app's own copyright lines (the original copyright lines with Compile and Banpresto are featured instead).
