Pocket Puyo Puyo Tsuu (ぽけっとぷよぷよ通) is a puzzle game, developed and published by Compile for the Game Boy in 1996. It is a version of Puyo Puyo Tsuu for the handheld, based on the Sega Game Gear version. The game features a border when played in the Super Game Boy cartridge for Super Famicom.
Nintendo would re-release the game in downloadable format on the year of 2000 as part of the Nintendo Power service, which requires a GB Memory cartridge to be downloaded and played. This re-release credits Sega in it, as Compile already given the character rights to the company. In this version, the Act Against AIDS screen and Arle Nadja's portrait were updated as well. This re-release would be unavailable to purchase alongside all titles in the Nintendo Power service since February 28, 2007.
History
Legacy
The original 1996 version would be the basis to the Neo Geo Pocket Color and WonderSwan ports of the game. The Neo Geo Pocket Color version went further in terms of enhancements, ranging to being full colored and even localized in English for an international release. Part of its source code would also be later used in Pocket Puyo Puyo Sun and Pocket Puyo Puyo~n.
