The home computer versions of Golden Axe were released around late 1990 for the Amiga, Amstrad CPC, Atari ST, Commodore 64, IBM PC , and ZX Spectrum.
Development
The Amiga and Atari ST versions were developed simultaneously and were originally based on the Sega Mega Drive version[4] . Realising that the Mega Drive made changes, elements from the arcade version were brought back in to this version[4]
Versions
Commodore 64
The Commodore 64 port was initially released with the final level missing, leading to the game being recalled and replaced with fixed versions[5] .
IBM PC
Despite being a selectable graphics option, Hercules support is broken in the IBM PC port of Golden Axe and will only function correctly in certain PC setups. This is due to a coding error, which has subsequently been fixed by the community.
