Chikako Kamatani (鎌谷 千佳子) is a former Sega sound member employed from 1987[1] to the early '90s who originally worked on the music for Mega Drive titles Alex Kidd in the Enchanted Castle and Mystic Defender and the Sega Game Toshokan title Pyramid Magic. She later shifted to Master System titles such as OutRun 3D, Cyber Police ESWAT and Golden Axe Warrior, before becoming a sound coordinator for several Mega-CD titles such as Quiz Scramble Special and Game no Kanzume. She is credited for most of these by her alias, Tarnya (ターニャ), which is also the name of a boss character in Alex Kidd in the Enchanted Castle.[2]
Years after her last known Sega work, Kamatani joined Artoon and worked on Game Boy Advance title Pinobee: Wings of Adventure. She has since worked with her husband, Kazuhiko Nagai, on the Oshare Majo series.
Kamatani mentored Naofumi Hataya when he was a new employee at the company, thus they appear together for several games.[3] She married fellow Sega Sound Team member Kazuhiko Nagai in 1993, and various Sega Sound Team members performed at their wedding.[4]
