Marvel vs. Capcom: Clash of Super Heroes (マーヴル vs. カプコン クラッシュ オブ スーパーヒーローズ) is a 2D fighting game developed and published by Capcom. It is the third fighting crossover in the "vs." series, following X-Men vs. Street Fighter and Marvel Super Heroes vs. Street Fighter.
Marvel vs. Capcom pulls Capcom characters from other non-Street Fighter franchises and has them do battle with characters from the Marvel Comics universe.
This game was released for the Sega Dreamcast in 1999 and was followed by Marvel vs. Capcom 2: New Age of Heroes. It was originally set to be a launch title in North America[12] but saw a last minute delay.

Story
The game is loosely based on the Onslaught arc from the X-Men comics. Onslaught is a sentient psionic entity created from the consciousness of Professor Charles Xavier and Magneto. During a battle between the X-Men and Magneto's Acolytes, Xavier used his telepathic powers to shut down Magneto's mind and render him catatonic. During the psionic contact, Magneto's anger, grief, and lust for vengeance entered Xavier's consciousness, mingling with Xavier's long-suppressed negative feelings, creating a being known as Onslaught. In the game, Xavier's conscience telepathically calls heroes from both the Marvel and Capcom universes to help stop him.
