Revision as of 08:59, 1 June 2023
The Sega Master System console first appeared in this region in 1988. In the following years, the console was released on another market in this region with the collapse of the communist system and market liberalization. From 1993, Sega began distributing the second Master System model. All consoles were compatible with the PAL system as seen in rest of Europe.
Master System was supported here until late 1996, besides Czechia and Hungary, where system was still promoted until early 1997. These two countries had the best sell from all Central and Eastern Europe region.
The Master System was usually the second if it comes to sells, the first was Mega Drive, but there were a countries where Sega 8-bit had the same or very close sales to its 16-bit successor. It was for sure much more popular than the Nintendo Entertainment System, but both 8-bit consoles were outclass by the famiclones.
