The Sega Master System console first appeared in this region in 1988. In the following years, the console was released on another market in this region with the collapse of the communist system and market liberalization. From 1993, Sega began distributing the second Master System model. All consoles were compatible with the PAL system as seen in rest of Europe.
Master System was supported here until late 1996, besides Czechia and Hungary, where system was still promoted until early 1997. These two countries had the best sell from all Central and Eastern Europe region.
The Master System didn't achieve as big success as Mega Drive, but it was much more popular here than the NES console. Both 8-bit consoles were outclass by the famiclones.
