Tohru "Master" Nakabayashi (中林 亨) is a former Sega sound designer who composed for many of the company's arcade games in the 80s, as well as various medal games and prize games,[3] to games on the Mega Drive and Game Gear.[4] He was cited as "responsible for bringing the S.S.T.Band to the world".[4] He was also a member of Team Shinobi.

From May to December of 1991 he wrote the Game Music Course series for Mega Drive Fan, explaining to readers key concepts in game music, from basics such as equipment, composing to visuals and writing a score, to more specific topics such as porting from arcade to consoles, the sound of the Mega Drive and Mega-CD and how to get a job as a video game music composer.

Towards the 90's his role at Sega had shifted into sound system development and management for AM2.[3] The late 90's saw him provide A&R (artists & repertoire) on various Sega video game music albums. For an unknown number of years, he worked under Sega AM5[5] and Sega Mechatronics[6].

He currently works for FPS.[2] where he is known to have innovated speakers[7]. Since 2021 he has been on the company's board of directors[8].
