ROMs do not last forever — specialized hardware used on some cartridges may last even less time. There is an active community of people interested in maintaining data about dumped ROMs to ensure games are not lost forever. However, some releases are rare. making it hard to track down and dump the ROM (Sansan was this way for a long time); in some cases, this happens to particular revisions of games. Not all dumps are good dumps — overdumping (when more is dumped than the EEPROM actually has and there is wraparound — which could probably have other errors) or bad dumping (when something goes wrong and the data is not bit perfect) can also happen. Finally, homebrew developers are actively looking out to ensure piracy of their games do not happen, and consequently those games also remain undumped, as they have fallen for the completely baseless idea that any proof that a game is dumpable will always, immediately lead to mass piracy that knocks all game sales down to absolute 0, much to everyone's extreme misfortune.

Game | Status | Description |
---|---|---|
Multi-Mega EU BIOS | Bad dump | Sega CD BIOSes are notorious for bad dumps due to various hardware curiosities. Two bad dumps of this circulate; no good dump has ever been made. |
Outback Joey Heartbeat Personal Trainer special software | Undumped | The unit itself is so rare that we don't even know what that software is called or everything it was capable of! (We only know some details.) |
2 in 1: Cosmic Spaceheed and Fantastic Dizzy | Undumped | |
2 in 1: Psychic Pinball and Micro Machines | Undumped | |
Advanced Daisenryaku: Deutsch Dengeki Sakusen | "Rev A" dumped, "Rev 0" undumped | Revision names from no-intro's undumped list. "Rev A" md5sum: d1c8b8474a9c47c5a2457b9549dee728. |
Awesome Possum Kicks Dr. Machino's Butt! | US dumped, Japan undumped | |
Blue Almanac/Star Odyssey | Only Blue Almanac final dumped | Star Odyssey prototypes were found, but thanks to Super Fighter Team getting its hands on the translation rights, it's unlikely the prototypes — or the final — will ever be dumped, thanks to his lookout to stop piracy even if he hasn't sold the game in YEARS (like Beggar Prince). |
Bomboy/Explosion Kid | Undumped | Carts do circulate, but a ROM has not yet been dumped. According to this video, the cartridge was packed in with the Dynacom Megavision... Exact name unknown. |
Captain Lang/High Seas Havoc/Havoc | US/EU (High Seas Havoc/Havoc) dumped, Japan (Captain Lang) undumped | |
Captain Planet and the Planeteers | US/EU dumped, Japan undumped | |
Davis Cup Tennis/Davis Cup World Tour | US/EU dumped, Japan undumped | |
Dynamite Headdy Sample | Undumped | no-intro does list "Dynamite Headdy (Beta);" whether or not these two are the same requires investigation. |
F-22 Interceptor | Dumped — but see description | The list has the additional notes "dump with eeprom reader." This may require some investigation... |
Ferrari Grand Prix Challenge Europe | "Rev A" dumped, "Rev 0" undumped | Revision names from no-intro's undumped list. "Rev A" md5sum: f5cf4a91e074640f45c6396948085ccc. |
Flicky | US/EU dumped, Japan undumped | The Japanese release of Flicky was a Game Toshokan exclusive, but every other Game Toshokan game (including Fatal Labyrinth) was dumped, so wtf... |
Galaxy Force II | "Rev B" and some unidentified revision dumped, "Rev 0" and "Rev A" undumped | Revision names from no-intro's undumped list. It is possible the unidentified one is either 0 or A. "Rev B" md5sum: 9fa0649fcb53963a432812254ccb4f02. Unidentified md5sum: 00f475ac5e7a5c2f753bb14ef62a9d98. |

International Superstar Soccer | EU "Deluxe" dumped, Brazil regular undumped | |
Jewel Master US/EU | "Rev A" dumped, "Rev 0" undumped | Revision names from no-intro's undumped list. "Rev A" md5sum: 42ec7e0894625345be8021f9d5f5d52f. |

Junker's High | Bad dump | Exact issue unknown. This is a prototype of an unreleased game, so a good dump is very unlikely. |
Magic 7 Block | Undumped | Exact name unknown. |
Magic Bubble | Undumped; possibly bad dumped | This game is so elusive very little information is known about it. It is known that Super Fighter Team now owns its copyright, but exactly what he has done with the copyright is currently unknown (or if he even did release an English version), and may actively prevent even the original version from being dumped. A bad dump of this original version may have been dumped by drx from a damaged cart sent to him by someone in a package full of unlicensed cartridges of varying quality; this has yet to be confirmed. |
Marble Madness | US/EU dumped, Japan undumped | |
Nagoya Home Banking | Undumped | It is believed the Mega Anser software differs from this. |
NBA Playoffs: Bulls vs. Blazers Japan | Dumped — but see description | The list indicates that there is a mismatch between the checksums in collector Xacrow's dump and in Cowering's GoodGen set. The md5sum of the ROM in no-intro's set is 97e07d6d00662e1d688229233ececddd, so this may have been resolved. Investigation needed. |

The md5sum of the ROMs in no-intro's set are 213899f86e17e95f41498c0b54d702b0 (Japan)/469e1360eb70879b1039a686be9dfc3a (US), so this may have been resolved. Investigation needed. EU is clear. |

The Story of Thor Japan prototype | Bad dump | Exact issue unknown. This is a prototype, so a good dump is very unlikely. |
Sumisei Home Tanmatsu | Undumped | |

Valis III Japan | ????? — see description | The no-intro ROM name was changed after the list was made to "Valis III (Japan) (Rev A).md." However, the list says they have 1.1, and are missing 1.0. This might mean 1.1 is Rev A, and 1.0 is another revision. Investigation needed. |

World Cup Soccer/World Championship Soccer | ????? — see description | The no-intro ROM set has an unidentified revision, a "v1.2," and a "Rev B." However, the list says they have "v1.0," "v1.2," and "v1.3," and are missing "v1.1." Much like with Valis III, this requires investigation... |

Wù Kōng Chuán Shuō/Wu Kong Wai Zhuan/Legend of Wukong | Wù Kōng Chuán Shuō/Wu Kong Wai Zhuan dumped, Legend of Wukong undumped | Super Fighter Team recent release; they are trying to prevent all forms of distribution except resale. While the game continues to be sold, the exact number of revisions are unknown. |
Xin Qi Gai Wangzi/Beggar Prince | Xin Qi Gai Wangzi dumped, Beggar Prince undumped | Super Fighter Team recent release; they are trying to prevent all forms of distribution except resale (despite having not sold the game in a while). Three manufacturing runs were made; the exact number of revisions are unknown. |
Zhong Guó Xiàng Qí | Undumped | Rather rare, though copies are known to circulate and screenshots exist. Realtec game, so be wary of its mapper. |
Furthermore, the following are on no-intro's undumped list, but the ROMs they have are marked as for more regions than the list indicates, so it is possible the undumped ROMs were dumped and found to be identical to the already dumped ones, unless there is evidence of difference — this requires some investigation. The list is outdated so this could have been investigated already (outdated entries on their list that can be proven easily from the current datfiles are already omitted from this page).
