Sega Racing Studio was a development team established in 2005 as a Sega subsidiary, under the supervision of Sega Europe. Based in Solihull, UK, the team initially consisted of a small group of employees but eventually employed over 60 staff. The team's purpose was to create new entries in existing Sega driving series as well as new IP.
Sega Rally Revo, the team's first game, was released in 2007 to a generally positive critical reception. However, the team was dissolved by Sega in April 2008 for undisclosed reasons, generally assumed to be related to poor sales of Sega Rally Revo. The studio was sold to Codemasters later that month. During the studio's closure and eventual sale, the team was still working to finish Sega Rally 3 for Sega Amusements Europe, which was due for release in May 2008. No other games were known to be in production at the time of the studio's closure.
