Puyo Puyo!! (ぷよぷよ!!) is a game by Sega celebrating the 20th anniversary of the Puyo Puyo franchise (the game is commonly referred to as Puyo Puyo 20th Anniversary in English-speaking circles as a result). It was released for the Nintendo DS on 14 July 2011 in Japan (as the last Sega game for the system to be released in Japan). During the 2011 Tokyo Game Show, Sega unveiled Wii, PlayStation Portable, and Nintendo 3DS ports expected by the end of the year. These versions came with the Puyo Puyo!! Anniversary Sound Collection CD album as a pre-order bonus.[9]
New modes include wind moving already placed puyo, pre-arranged irremovable blocks on the board, and being able to drop puyo in the middle of a chain.
A special limited edition release included a set of 30 keychains. Additionally, a commemorative Puyo-themed pouch was sold separately for ¥1,980 (2,079)2,079i.[10]
In late 2012 Sega released a stripped-down version, Puyo Puyo!! Mini Version (ぷよぷよ!!ミニバージョン), on the Nintendo 3DS eShop. This feature has only four playable characters (Arle, Amitie, Ringo, Raffine) and limited game modes.
