The Race Controller, known as the Racing Controller (レーシングコントローラ) in Japan, is an official steering wheel controller for the Sega Dreamcast. All Race Controllers are black with orange buttons, including the PAL version, despite PAL Dreamcasts opting for a blue colour scheme.
In North America it was not distributed by Sega - instead it was repackaged as the Rally Wheel and sold by Agetec (though games themselves still mark themselves as compatible with the "Race Controller"). The Rally Wheel variation of the peripheral features a port at its rear to attach pedals, though neither Sega nor Agetec released any pedals during the Dreamcast's lifetime.
The Race Controller has a poor reputation due to its basic construction and the noticeable deadzone at the centre of its turning radius, though it has since been proven that this deadzone is introduced by Dreamcast software. Some hobbyists have designed mods for the Race Controller to overcome this deadzone.
