Like a Dragon Gaiden: The Man Who Erased His Name, known as Ryu ga Gotoku 7 Gaiden Na wo Keshita Otoko (龍が如く７外伝 名を消した男) in Japan, is a side story in the Yakuza/Like a Dragon series.

Arcade games

Fighting Vipers 2, Motor Raid, Sega Racing Classic 2, Sonic the Fighters and Virtua Fighter 2 are included as Sega Arcade games.

Sega Racing Classic 2 is the generic title for Daytona USA 2: Battle on the Edge, which lacks an official license from International Speedway Corporation to feature the Daytona brand. This also marks the first instance of the Sega Racing Classic brand name in Japan, as the Sega RingWide version was not released in the country.

Console games

Like a Dragon Gaiden: The Man Who Erased His Name includes Alex Kidd in Miracle World, Alien Syndrome, Enduro Racer, Fantasy Zone, Fantasy Zone II: The Tears of Opa-Opa, Galaxy Force, Global Defense, Maze Hunter 3D, Penguin Land, Quartet and Secret Command as Sega Master System games. The SG-1000 version of Flicky is also included, marking its first release outside Japan and Oceania.

As with Lost Judgment, the player can play either the Japanese or International versions of these games, if available. Boot ROM games, such as the V2.1J BIOS and Snail Maze, are also playable without inserting a cartridge.

History

Like a Dragon Gaiden: The Man Who Erased His Name was developed simultaneously with Like a Dragon: Ishin! and Like a Dragon: Infinite Wealth by the same team with identical roles between projects, similar to previous yearly installments being developed by the same team.[3] The voice recording sessions were scheduled so that lines for Ishin!, Gaiden and Infinite Wealth were each being recorded on different within the same week.[3]

Gaiden was developed in about half a year with the same engine as Infinite Wealth. It was initially conceived as DLC for Infinite Wealth, but was retooled into a standalone game, which subsequently would need additional content to justify a physical release.[3]
