Jim Woods is a former Director of Development Services at Sega West.
He entered the games industry in 1989 with PC Wise, a company specialised in bulk disc duplication for magazine cover-mounts and joined Leeds based Vektor Grafix in the same year where he worked until 1990 as an Accountant. He joined Cross Products in 1991, as a Managing Director[1] supplying the first real-time editing tools to the worldwide game development community, the SNASM (the Spiny Norman's Assembler or SN Assembler, jointly developed by Martin Day a.k.a Spiny Norman of SN Systems and Ian Oliver and Andy Craven founders of Cross Products) until 1995, leaving the company in the same year, shortly after the business was sold to Sega.
After spending a short time in the multi-media sector, Jim joined DMA Design in 1997, where he stayed for four years as development director. He again joined Sega in 2006 as Head of External Development at SEGA Europe. Having held roles as project director and interim studio director at The Creative Assembly in Brisbane, (Sega Studios Australia) he returned to the SEGA Europe offices in 2011 as Director of Development Services at Sega West until May 2017. He is currently a Senior Development Director at Sheffield-based company Sumo Digital.
