Atlus (アトラス) is a video game developer and publisher based in Shinjuku, Tokyo, Japan. They are mostly known for their Megami Tensei RPG series. Their North American branch, Atlus U.S.A., is strictly a publisher, often localising niche Japanese games for western audiences and publishing games made by independent developers. After a series of ownership changes, the company and what was then its parent, Index Holdings, was purchased by Sega-Sammy Holdings in the summer of 2013.

On 18 September 2013, Sega would confirm its acquisition of Atlus' parent company.[1][2]
