Atlus (アトラス) is a video game developer and publisher based in Shinjuku, Tokyo, Japan. They are mostly known for their Megami Tensei RPG series. Their North American branch, Atlus U.S.A., is strictly a publisher, often localising niche Japanese games for western audiences and publishing games made by independent developers. After a series of ownership changes, the company and what was then its parent, Index Holdings, was purchased by Sega Sammy Holdings in the summer of 2013.
On 18 September 2013, Sega would confirm its acquisition of Atlus' parent company.[1][2]
