Sega Sports Design R&D was a division within Sega of Japan. It can be seen as a continuation of Smilebit, however it only focused on the sports games, while non-sports staff went on to the New Entertainment R&D Dept.. Sports Design R&D dissolved into CS1 and CS2 in 2008.
