Mie Kumagai (熊谷 美恵), joined Sega AM3 in 1993 and succeeded Hisao Oguchi as head of Hitmaker. She is mainly credited for spearheadding the Virtua Tennis series of games.

After Sega AM3 was dissolved in 2008 she joined AM2, bringing with her legacy AM3 series Gunblade NY, Virtua Tennis and Derby Owners Club, and primarily produced the department's mobile games. Shortly after their original mobile game Squads: Saikyou no Kizuna, and before the release of Fortisia SEGAxLINE[3], she left Sega to join mobile-focused developer Colopl.[2]
