Phantasy Star IV: The End of the Millennium, known as Phantasy Star: Sennenki no Owari ni (ファンタシースター 千年紀の終りに) in Japan, is an entry in the Phantasy Star series. Phantasy Star IV marks the end of the "classic" Phantasy Star series, and was the last to be released for the Sega Mega Drive. In the US and Japan, it was overshadowed and outsold by the SNES exclusive Final Fantasy VI.
The series would continue after a six year gap with Phantasy Star Online for the Sega Dreamcast.
Apparently it was planed to include pseudo 3D stages like in Phantasy Star but the idea was scrapped during development.
