Online R&D is the continuation of SEGA PC. Free to play games, became increasingly popular, not just on smartphones, but also on the PC and other gaming devices. So a division was created, seperate from the consumer departments, dedicated just to the free to play games. The main pillar of the division is Phantasy Star Online 2. [1][2]
A sister division of Online R&D is Sega Networks.
