The Development Technology Division[1] (開発技術部)[2] is a division of Sega. Otherwise known as the "pit crew behind game development", [1] this division is not directly involved with game development, but instead builds infrastructure and technology used by the development divisions. Previously, Sega's development teams were responsible for creating their own tools and engines, but that role has been given to the Development Technology Division.[1]
Due to its members being particularly interested in new technology and them conveniently neighbouring the team at Sega's offices, the division works closely with the 1st Development Division.[3]
