The Legends Series is a collection of RCA jack "Mega Drive-on-a-chip" units made by Radica Games. These contain several Mega Drive games in each pack, embedded into a small system that takes 4 AA batteries and has an attached controller. It can also be powered by a 6V mains plug, which is not supplied. Sega Toys distributes the products in Japan as the Mega Drive Play TV series.

Like many recent Mega Drive clones, the sound is imperfect, meaning many games sound slightly different than intended. Each game is played with a controller almost physically identical to the original Sega Mega Drive gamepad, but with an extra button which will reset the unit and take the user to a menu screen. Strangely, despite having redesigned packaging for a European audience, North American ESRB ratings can be seen on some units instead of the expected PEGI or BBFC ratings.
