Mega Drive consoles in Eastern Europe

The Eastern European Sega Mega Drive debuted in 1992 and until 1995, it was introduced in all markets. The systems are identical to PAL ones seen in Western Europe, with only differences being manuals in native language, warranty cards, catalogues, posters and distributor seals on box or under console. The Bulgarian, Serbian, Montenegro and the CIS countries markets firstly got the European models, but later the cheaper Asian PAL too, in order to lower price for around 20%.

As a result of ongoing piracy, Sega had to recognize some of the clones as official in order to have a certain percentage of profits from the sale of games and add-ons. Such case is with Power Pegasus in Poland and Super Bitman in CIS countries.

The first Sega consoles appeared here thanks to the Russian Steepler, whose products were sold in Estonia by Linakor, Galantis and Egard.^[10]^[11]
