The 2nd Development Division[1] (第2事業部)[2], is a development division of Sega. It is the home of Sonic Team and and is most notable for developing Sega's flagship IP Sonic the Hedgehog. It is also tasked with rebooting of several older, fan-favourite IPs such as Samba de Amigo to achieve Sonic-like success.[1] This extends to the "Power the Next Level" games based on Golden Axe, Shinobi and Streets of Rage.[3]
Based on shared credited developers, it seems the division is also responsible for many arcade games, including StarHorse and the rhythm games Maimai, Chunithm and Ongeki.
