From Sega Retro
Sega Retro always needs improvement. This is a centralised (if unorganised) list of things to do.
Primarily this involves making a page whenever you see a red link.
Anyone is welcome to contribute. You may also edit this page as you see fit.

- This mostly lines up with my own research (it looks like we dipped into several of the same secondary sources) but does differ from my own work on some things:
- * I show parts of Standard Games (specifically its distribution network) sold off to Stern post-dissolution in 1949-1951:
- * They briefly mention shell companies but don't go into many of them (Service Games Panama becoming COSI, SARL, that weird one out of the Boston area, Segasa, etc.)
- * Only a passing mention of Nesor-Rosen in Rosen Enterprises
- * Good to know I'm not the only person utterly confused by Nihon Goraku Bussan

I've got a lot less free time than I had, and I'm not able to keep up with this anymore. Ruten is a Taiwanese auction site which has all sorts of wacky gems, but if you don't grab the photos quickly the item can be bought and de-listed. It's not like eBay where a record sticks around for a while.

Usually they're crap. But if you take the url, something like:

Action Games
This is the Argentine version of Ação Games. Scans exist for many issues, but most are low quality, watermarked tat which isn't much use to anybody. In addition to the two I've already uploaded to Retro CDN, I've found half a dozen "acceptable" ones:
- http://www.taringa.net/post/imagenes/16397644/Revista-Action-Games-escaneada-Nro-13.html - missing a page?
- http://www.taringa.net/post/imagenes/16402045/Mi-2da-mejor-revista-action-games-nro-15-escan.html
- http://www.taringa.net/post/imagenes/16405718/Mi-2da-mejor-revista-action-games-nro-16-escan.html
- http://www.taringa.net/post/imagenes/16406048/Mi-2da-mejor-revista-action-games-nro-19-escan.html
Unfortunately it involves piecing each page together. I've downloaded the images en masse if you want a zip, but they're not numbered, so you'll have to refer to this tacky site. It's not a pleasant task, and there might be more non-watermarked issues hidden away.
The articles themselves probably won't be very interesting as they're likely just Portugese -> Spanish translations, but the adverts will help us understand who was handling Sega consoles in the region, and when. Later issues even have two page spreads for Mega Drive clones. -Black Squirrel (talk) 11:16, 26 July 2016 (CDT)

Newspapers
Google has a stock of digitised newspapers from across history. Newspapers are a good source, though unlike gaming magazines, I don't think Sega Retro is set to benefit much from complete, cover-to-cover scans. I've started uploading single pages onto Retro CDN - it may need organising at a later date but I'm too lazy now.
Unfortunately Google doesn't offer the ability to download single pages as PNGs, so I've had to painstakingly stitch screenshots together. The results are good and it's easy enough to do, but it takes a while, so it's definitely a job worth sharing.
