The Electronic Entertainment Expo 1996 (E3 1996) was the second E3 event to take place.
E3 1996 is considered to be one of the more notable E3s, as it took place right at the peak of a bitter rivalry between Sony and the PlayStation, and Sega with its Sega Saturn. It was also the event in which the Nintendo 64 was fully revealed and made playable to the public. A surprise price drop for the PlayStation on the first day prompted Sega to match it on the second, taking the Saturn to $199 USD.
