Sega Ages Phantasy Star (SEGA AGES ファンタシースター) is a re-release of Phantasy Star developed by M2 as the third entry in the Sega Ages lineup for the Nintendo Switch.
Contents
Gameplay
Sega Ages Phantasy Star features two gameplay modes to the player: AGES Mode and Original Mode. In both game modes, the player can choose to play with the original PSG soundtrack or the FM Sound Unit regardless of game region. The player also has a map displayed on the screen when exploring dungeons, and the player can view explanations for spells, items and weapons when the game is paused. Any monsters the player defeats will be recorded in a Monster Guide that can be viewed from the main menu, listing their names, descriptions and stats.
The player may also change the game's region to Japanese or International, switch between Hiragana or Katakana for the Japanese version, and increase walking speed.
AGES Mode
AGES Mode is a special updated version of the game. This version reduces the number of monster encounters in the game, and winning battles will award the player with more EP and Meseta.
Original Mode
Original Mode is essentially the original version of the game as it was originally played on the Sega Master System, with all game-breaking issues intact.
