AM R&D Dept. #3[2] (第三AM研究開発部) was the third arcade division of Sega Corporation. It was part of the AM Software R&D Group of Amusement R&D Div, alongside AM R&D Dept. #1 and AM R&D Dept. #2[2].
After the Sega Sammy Holdings restructuring, Hitmaker turned back into AM3. It operated for four more years, but then was dissolved, becoming part of the remaining arcade studios Sega AM1 and Sega AM2.
There has been little to no change in the studio in comparison to Hitmaker.
