Software R&D Dept. #6 (第六ソフト研究開発部) was a video game research and development division within Sega and successor to Sega CS1 and Sega PC, with its manager Shun Arai for the PC division[3]. The expertise from Sega PC staff was put to use creating both PC and Dreamcast conversions of arcade games.

R&D #6 also added many sports game developers from CS2, thereby uniting the Let's Make Baseball and Let's Make Soccer franchises under one developer. Some of these former CS2 developers would later be credited on Skies of Arcadia by Overworks for their contributions early in the game's development.

R&D #6 only existed for nine months before becoming Smilebit.
