CS R&D Dept. #3[1][2] (第三CS研究開発部) was the third consumer-focused research and development department of Sega. It acted as a continuation of GE2 and GE3.
While it had some major franchises like Phantasy Star and Valkyria Chronicles, unlike CS1 and CS2, which had multiple sections dedicated to game design, programming or art, CS3 seems to have only had one section for each of these, and no known sound section. As a result, it had fewer people working to create games of their own. Instead, the department focused more on localizing and producing content made by other developers, including Imageepoch, Platinum Games and M2, and its game developers even worked with Sega AM2 to develop the console versions of Hatsune Miku: Project DIVA[3].
Free-to-Play and mobile games branched out to Online R&D. CS3 continued mostly as is when Sega Games was founded in 2015, but was slightly rebranded as CS Studio 3.
