It is the current parent company of Sega Corporation. The board of Sega Sammy Holdings oversees operations for all its subsidiaries; the Sega Sammy Group.

Sega Sammy considers itself to be active in three main areas; Pachislot and pachinko machines (Sammy), "entertainment contents" (Sega) and resorts, although it has had interests in many other areas over its lifespan.
