Capcom Co., Ltd. (株式会社カプコン) is a Japanese developer and publisher of video games, known for its multi-million-selling franchises such as Street Fighter, Mega Man, and Resident Evil.
Apart from its own arcade systems, Capcom also distributed its own System 32, Sega Titan Video, Sega NAOMI, and Sega NAOMI GD-ROM boards and games; all such are listed below.
Company
Capcom was originally established on June 11, 1983. Its first product was a coin-operated medal game titled Little League (released in July 1983), and its first arcade video game was Vulgus (released in May 1984). While Capcom made a lot of its games with their own arcade systems, there were several made with systems developed and managed by other companies. It ended repair services for most of its older arcade games in March 2015[1] and transferred its repair services to Sega Logistics Service a few years later.[2][3][4] SLS ended repairs for some of Capcom's newer titles in June 2023.[5][6]
Capcom has been releasing console games since December 1985, when it released a Famicom version of their arcade game 1942. Its games were ported to Sega consoles starting with Ghouls'n Ghosts (1989), and it began publishing its own software for Sega consoles starting with Street Fighter II': Special Champion Edition (1993). Capcom published software for the Mega Drive, Sega Saturn, and Dreamcast.
